JAKARTA, THE NUSANTARA POST – After a long wait, the government, through the Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Suharso Monoarfa, has announced the name of the new state capital in East Kalimantan, namely Nusantara.
“I just received confirmation and direct orders from the President, namely on Friday. So now it’s Monday, last Friday, and he said the country’s capital is Nusantara,” said Suharso in a meeting of the Special Committee on the Draft Law on the State Capital ( IKN Bill) with the government at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday (17/1/2022).
Suharso said that the name of the capital city initially wanted to be included in the IKN Bill, but was withheld before being confirmed by President Joko Widodo.
Suharso reasoned, the name Nusantara was chosen because the word has been known for a long time and is iconic in the international world. (Wan)
