JAKARTA, THE NUSANTARA POST- The Governor of the Special Capital City Region (DKI) Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, attended the ceremonial announcement (online) of the victory for the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) application at the 2021 ASEAN ICT Awards (AICTA) for the Public Sector category.
The final of AICTA 2021 will be held on December 14-15, 2021. The JAKI innovation presented by the Head of the Jakarta Smart City BLUD, Yudhistira Nugraha managed to amaze the jury consisting of ten members from each ASEAN country, as well as two independent judges from Japan and China. The final results of this event were announced on January 28, 2022 and have been released on the https://aseanictaward.com/news.html page.
The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, appreciated the achievement of a gold medal in this competition which had defeated Singapore and Cambodia in the 2021 AICTA final.
“JAKI’s success will not be realized without the participation of our collaborators, all levels of Regional Apparatus Organizations, and Jakarta residents who continue to make innovations to provide accessibility of public services and information through integration and collaboration,” said Governor Anies Baswedan at City Hall, Saturday. (29/01).
The AICTA announcement ceremony was opened by Myanmar’s Minister of Transport and Communication, Admiral Tin Aung San. In his remarks as the host on Friday (28/1) yesterday, he said, the ASEAN ICT Awards have been held as an annual event since 2012 in recognition of the best achievements by ICT entrepreneurs in the ASEAN region.
“Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, I see that 95 teams from all ASEAN member countries participated in this year’s victory event. Usually, the award ceremony is held during the dinner at the Annual Ministerial Meeting. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are only able to hold simple events virtually,” said Tin Aung San.
Meanwhile, Shita Laksmi, one of the judges for IdenTIK 2020 and ASEAN ICT Awards 2021, said that the public sector is a category that houses information technology innovations carried out by government organizations to provide efficient public services. Previously, several representatives of other countries had won this category. In 2019, the top three rankings were achieved by Road Tax (Laos), IMDA Lab on Wheels (Singapore), and Parents Gateway (Singapore).
“Indonesia has never received gold for the Public Sector. So, JAKI’s victory at AICTA against ASEAN countries is proof that the nation’s technological innovations are able to compete in the international arena. The JAKI application is comprehensive in solving many problems in the public sector. Many services have become more effective and efficient, making it easier for residents without having to download many applications,” said Shita.
It should be noted that Jakarta is the first government agency to donate a gold medal to Indonesia at the AICTA event throughout its implementation. In the final of the AICTA 2021 event, JAKI managed to beat leading countries such as Singapore, which has always dominated and won the AICTA event for the Public Sector category.
The previous Indonesian representative who was recorded as having won the AICTA was the Smartcard for Frequent Traveler who received the gold title at the 2013 AICTA. Meanwhile, the e-voting for the Regional Head Elections won the silver title at the 2018 AICTA. After eight years of waiting, Indonesia again won the gold medal through the JAKI application platform.
