JAKARTA, THE NUSANTARA POST- The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) together with the Indonesia Water Institute held a Sustainable Infrastructure Forum with the theme “Joint Commitment to Reducing Carbon Emissions and Strategies for Sustainable Infrastructure Financing” at the Auditorium of the Ministry of PUPR, Wednesday (15/03).

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the Indonesian government was committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 29% by using all of its own resources or 41% with international support and cooperation. Thus, in realizing this target the construction sector plays an important role because the greenhouse gas emissions resulting from construction activities are quite significant.

“For this reason, the PUPR Ministry is committed to reducing carbon emissions through implementing sustainable construction and developing green infrastructure that synergizes natural systems and engineered solutions,” said Minister Basuki in his remarks delivered by Acting Directorate General of Water Resources Jarot Widyoko.

Jarot added, the implementation of sustainable construction can be done by prioritizing local, superior and environmentally friendly products. As a concrete step, PUPR Ministerial Instruction No. 4 of 2020 was issued concerning the Use of Non-Ordinary Portland Cement (Non-OPC) in Construction Works at the Ministry of PUPR. This is because the use of Non-OPC cement can contribute to.

Jarot also said, currently, the PUPR Ministry has a big task to build the infrastructure for the Capital City of the Nusantara (IKN) which carries the Smart Forest City concept. In building IKN, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing also utilizes technological innovations that support efforts to reduce carbon emissions and zero waste.

“Efforts to reduce carbon emissions and zero waste include Integrated Urban Water Management (IUWM) by managing urban water management systems, Smart Water Management Systems related to the provision of drinking water, gray water recycling, and rainwater harvesting systems whose use can be monitored using an application. , and Waste Management Flow by managing waste and waste at the IKN using the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) based waste management concept,” explained Jarot.

Deputy for Green Transformation and Digital Authority of the IKN Authority, Muhammed Ali Berawi, who was also present as a guest speaker, said that the construction of the IKN provides an opportunity for sustainable construction technology in Indonesia. “The development of IKN is an important momentum in construction. We will optimize the use of technology, natural resources and local resources so that IKN will truly become a green, smart, inclusive, resilient and sustainable city,” Ali explained.

Finally, Jarot reiterated that the key to implementing sustainable construction is the Pentahelix Collaboration between stakeholders consisting of the Government, the Business World, the Community, Academics and the Media.

“For that, we need to work hard and work together to make this big agenda a success, by socializing, developing, and synergizing the use of environmentally friendly and sustainable construction materials,” said Jarot.

Menteri PUPR Beberkan Pembangunan Ibu Kota Nusantara Usung Konsep Smart Forest City
