JAKARTA, THENUSANTARAPOST.COM – President Prabowo Subianto on Friday, November 8, 2024, began his first overseas visit as Head of State. This visit includes several major countries, including China, the United States, and several nations in Latin America and the Middle East.
The visit aims to discuss global economic and geopolitical issues, strengthening Indonesia’s position as a strategic partner on the international stage.
“Indonesia’s role and stance are highly anticipated by many. It is both an honor and a great responsibility for us to build strong relationships with various countries,” said President Prabowo before departing from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta.
The first country visited is the People’s Republic of China (PRC), where President Prabowo will meet with President Xi Jinping to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, and defense. After that, Prabowo will head to Washington D.C. to fulfill an invitation from the President of the United States. This visit underscores Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining a balanced diplomatic approach between the world’s great powers.
Next, the President will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Lima, Peru, before continuing his journey to Brazil to attend the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro. At this international event, President Prabowo will focus on strategic issues, including climate change, green economy, and food security.
Following Brazil, the visit will continue to the United Kingdom and several Middle Eastern countries before returning to Indonesia. This visit is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a key player in international affairs and encourage Indonesia to be a strategic partner for developed nations.
The President’s departure was also attended by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming and several ministers, including Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Education and Culture Meutya Hafid, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo (Marwan)
