NUSANTARA, THE NUSANTARA POST– Indonesia’s ambitious plan to build a new capital city in East Kalimantan is gaining renewed momentum. The Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN), Basuki Hadimuljono, reaffirmed that the development of Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) remains on track—with even greater speed under President-elect Prabowo Subianto’s administration.

Speaking in a dialogue with RRI Samarinda on Thursday (May 8), Basuki emphasized Prabowo’s strong commitment to accelerating infrastructure development in IKN.
“President Prabowo has shown a very firm commitment to push forward and complete the development of IKN at a faster pace,” Basuki stated.

He also revealed that he has been personally tasked with expediting the construction of key state institutions—particularly the legislative and judicial areas. These zones are expected to be completed by late 2027 or early 2028.

More Projects, More Progress

According to Basuki, physical construction in IKN will intensify toward the end of May. A significant number of tenders are scheduled to finalize contracts on May 21, 2025.

The Ministry of Public Works and Housing is also playing a central role in the completion of major projects such as the Vice Presidential Palace, toll roads, and IKN’s grand mosque. Meanwhile, housing developments are being handled in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Settlements.

Another major initiative currently underway is the government’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme, amounting to IDR 132 trillion (approx. USD 8.3 billion). This massive funding will support housing, roads, multi-utility tunnels (MUT), and other vital infrastructure in partnership with private enterprises.

Private Investment on the Rise

Basuki noted that alongside government-led projects, the private sector is stepping in with developments such as hotels, restaurants, a safari park, and even a horse racing track.

“Land for these projects is already allocated, and preparations are now in progress,” he added.

As Indonesia prepares to relocate its capital, the Nusantara project continues to reflect the nation’s vision of a smart, green, and sustainable city. With Prabowo set to lead the next phase, expectations are rising that IKN will not only be completed—but completed ahead of schedule (Kumparan/TNP).
