JAKARTA, THENUSANTARAPOST.COM – Indonesia and Peru are stepping up their strategic partnership as the two nations mark 50 years of diplomatic relations.

President Prabowo Subianto and Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra held a bilateral meeting in a working lunch format at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (August 11, 2025), joined by delegates from both countries.

Welcoming the Peruvian leader, Prabowo expressed his gratitude for her visit, calling it a meaningful milestone.

“Your Excellency President Dina Boluarte, President of the Republic of Peru, and your delegation — once again, thank you for honoring us with this state visit,” Prabowo said.

This marks the second time the two leaders have met in less than a year, following their talks in Lima, Peru, in November 2024 and a meeting on the sidelines of the APEC Summit.

The visit holds special significance, Prabowo noted, as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of Indonesia–Peru diplomatic relations.

“I am confident we can enhance our cooperation because we share the same interests — we both want to build prosperity for our people,” he added.

President Dina Boluarte echoed the sentiment, saying the trip had been in the works since their meeting at the 2024 APEC Summit. She highlighted concrete outcomes, including the signing of the Indonesia–Peru Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which opens Indonesia’s market to Peruvian blueberries, and ongoing talks to grant access for pomegranates.

“Thank you, Mr. President, for your commitment, which has shortened processes and procedures — and now we can say it has been realized in Peru,” Boluarte said.

Both leaders agreed to push forward broader collaboration in trade, economy, and other strategic sectors, reaffirming their commitment as fellow Pacific nations with shared aspirations for growth and prosperity (Wan).
