JAKARTA, THE NUSANTARA POST – The development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) is still ongoing. Head of the Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN), Bambang Susantono, stated that they are working hard to realize the celebration of Indonesia’s Independence Day on August 17, 2024, at the Nusantara Capital City.

“We always strive to the best of our ability to fulfill the mandate of realizing the IKN to the best of our ability,” said Bambang in his written statement on Wednesday (August 23, 2023).

Previously, the DPR (Indonesian Parliament) Commission II conducted a working visit to the Nusantara Capital City along with the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs/National Land Agency, led by OIKN and the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) on Tuesday (August 22, 2023). The visit aimed to review the IKN development in relation to the drafting of the Amendment Bill to Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the Nusantara Capital City.

Chairman of DPR Commission II, Ahmad Doli Kurnia Tandjung, is optimistic that the development of Nusantara Capital City can be completed on time. He further hopes that the August 17 ceremony next year can be held at the Nusantara Capital City as planned.

Doli conveyed three messages related to the IKN development. First, he hopes that the presence of IKN can enhance the dignity of the Indonesian people, especially those around the IKN area, in line with IKN’s main purpose of accelerating equitable development in Indonesia.

Secondly, Doli hopes that the development can be carried out while preserving the environment. This way, the IKN development can cover a wide area while maintaining the existing environment.

Thirdly, Doli hopes that IKN can become a center of progress for Indonesia in the future. “So that we can show that the world advances because of Indonesia,” Doli said as quoted by The Nusantara Post from Republika.

Doli added that the visit to the Nusantara Capital City was conducted before proceeding to the drafting of the Amendment Bill to Law Number 3 of 2022. He emphasized that the DPR wants to directly witness the progress of the Nusantara Capital City development up to the present time.

Several construction sites in the Core Government Center Area (KIPP), such as the Nusantara Zero Point, West Axis National Viewing Tower, Construction Worker Housing, State Palace, Minister’s Residence, and Sepaku Semoi Dam, were inspected during the visit. “I was surprised because 11 months ago, when I came here, I could only reach the Zero Point. Then, within a short period of time, the progress happened so quickly, and now its form is starting to be visible,” he concluded (ROL/TNP).
