NUSANTARA, THENUSANTARAPOST.COM – President Joko Widodo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the sustainability of the development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN).

According to the President, the development of IKN has been mandated by the law and approved by 93 percent of the factions in the DPR (People’s Consultative Assembly).

“IKN has its law, and that law is supported by 93 percent of the factions in the DPR. What more is there to ask? It’s 93 percent,” said the President in his statement to the media after laying the first stone for the construction of a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in the IKN area, East Kalimantan Province, on Thursday, November 2, 2023.

The President stated that the government is currently fulfilling its responsibilities to prepare several basic infrastructures in the IKN. This includes the construction of the Presidential Palace and Vice Presidential Office, ministries/agencies, water supply, and electricity.

Furthermore, the government is expediting the involvement of private investors and the business community in the development of IKN. The President mentioned that private entities have initiated the construction of various infrastructure components over the past two to three months.

“We can see that in the business world, two months, three months ago, they have already started building hotels, hospitals, malls, schools, training centers, everything has begun,” the President expressed.

According to the President, there is approximately Rp45 trillion worth of development scheduled to be realized by December. However, he emphasized that IKN is a long-term project.

“But indeed, once again, this is not just a project for the next year; it could be 15 years, 20 years, or even 10 years if the private sector progresses swiftly. So, once again, 20 percent of the budget comes from the state budget, and 80 percent comes from the private sector,” the President stated (Wan)
